Week 14, 2006 Goals Done

I haven't done much this week. I started a job trial on the 3rd and I need to walk so much to get there and back (and I'm not used to it). Also being with 3 and 4 year olds all day (and I'm not used to it) – all the loud voices, etc. by the time I get home I'm too tired to do much else than just sit. It's enough that I get supper done and do the laundry!

Week 14, 2006 Goals

Goal Clarification
UFO: Weave in left side yarns
D's Miniature Sweater: Decide on how many stitches for sleeve (This may not seem like a huge project but as I am designing the pattern myself I don't know what I'm doing. Barbie will need to get her arm in there but I don't want to make the sleeve half the size of the sweater.)

Week 13, 2006 Goals
UFO: Weave in right side yarns Done
Job Preperation:
- Find 1 week's worth of clothes Done
- Make up week's menu Done
D's Miniature Sweater: Knit one sleeve Not done because of procrastination!
Reclaiming Bedroom: Next step: Sort through desk cupboard Not done because of procrastination!
Listen to tape Not done because of procrastination!

This last week has been one of severe procrastination. I don't know why. Perhaps because I have to start a test 'job' to see whether or not I would still like to work with children (or am I actually too old to find enthusiasm and energy to be with three and four year olds). I printed off a calendar page so that I could make up a plan for the coming 4 weeks (menu, housework, etc.) and has any of it been filled in? Well, I wonder...

I did just finish my ironing for the week, or it will be finished when I decide what jacket to wear. If I wear my winter jacket, I'll be roasting by the time I leave ”work” but if I wear my spring jacket I'll be freezing in the morning. Sigh.

A is 16 Today!

16 ways that A has grown:

1. The obvious is that 16 years ago he was this chubby-cheeked 51 cm beautiful baby and is now handsome and 197 cm!
2. He has noticed that his instrument playing has changed (= matured).
3. I don't have to get angry because I don't have to tell him over (and over) that he should practice his instrument. I only need to suggest that he should do it, and more often than not, it gets done.
4. He can get up in front of an audience (of mostly strangers) to play his instrument by himself without saying anything about not wanting to do it.
5. He's going to take the train by himself (well, he will be with a friend. But I mean he'll go without an adult (= me)). I suppose he hasn't actually grown in this matter, but I have! But still. He has grown enough that he can do it.
6. He has recently started to volunteer to go outside for some fresh air. This may or may not have something to do with the freeride bike he takes with him.
7. After doing his biggest April Fool's joke (being born 3 weeks early), he hasn't done anything to distess me.
8. He can do his own laundry. This still takes a reminder from me, but it gets washed and put away.
9. He makes decisions that will affect his future (choosing what high school to go to).
10. He can make decisions on his own (choosing to continue his martial arts hobby but not to compete) (and therefore not getting kicked in the head anymore! = yeah, I don't have to cringe when I think of it).
11. To help get something that he wants (going alone with his friend by train to the city of T) he can use reason (he will be doing this anyway when he starts high school in the fall) instead of just asking ”why can't he?” or something along those lines.
12. He wants to find time to read.
13. He uses so many English words that I haven't taught him. For so many years I was his source of the English language. (Sometimes I wonder why I've lost the vocabulary that he uses.)
14. He suddenly, spontaneously does things he has never done before (rinse out the milk carton).
15. I don't always have to remind him mention more than once that things need to be done (eg. the clean dishes need to be put away).
16. He usually phones if he is going to be later than agreed on.
